Paul Mittermeier has been a Prosthetic patient of Maryland Orthotics & Prosthetics/D&J Medical since 2012. Paul has been an amputee for 31 years and has been able to witness and be a part of the incredible strides in technology from the single post leg to his new suspension running leg, and in between that time he was participating in the early trials at M.I.T for the BIOM Leg. Paul is a very active amputee and plays in senior softball tournaments, as well as playing with the Wounded Warrior’s program when they play charity softball events. He has traveled around the country four to five times a year to play in tournaments. During a period of his time traveling he was director of operations for the island soccer league, which is a professional soccer league in Bermuda.
When Paul is not playing sports, he is broadcasting and reporting them and has been for 29 years. You may have heard his voice on WBAL radio or 98 ROCK as a sports reporter. He has broadcasted Raven’s Gameday, play by play for college sports at UMBC and Towson, play by play voice for Baltimore Blast Soccer team, and covered 5 Superbowls and Stanley cup playoffs.
Paul supports many foundations including the Ed Block courage award foundation where he is the director of communications. He gives his support and time at fundraising events and has been an advocate for MDOP & D&J Medical.
Paul’s journey as an amputee is inspiring to our staff at D&J Medical and we are very grateful to as a patient of ours to have him share his experiences with new amputees. Paul has also given feedback to us about his patient experience and how we can make all patient’s experience the best that it can be. He is truly one to give back to the community!
