IMPORTANT NOTICE

ORTHOTIC DEVICE PRESCRIBED BY YOUR HEALTHCARE PROVIDER

Many insurance policies designate orthotic devices with a Reasonable Useful Lifetime otherwise known as “RUL”.  The RUL is the expected minimum lifespan for the device prescribed.  If you have received a similar orthotic device within the last five years, it may be determined that your new device prescribed today is the same or similar to your past device that was paid for by your insurance.

When a same or similar device is prescribed to you during the RUL of the device already in your possession, your claim may be denied as same/similar or duplicate item.

Your healthcare provider has evaluated you and prescribed an initial orthotic device.   Later, your healthcare provider may prescribe a custom orthosis which may be highly recommended to allow you to ambulate efficiently and provide a quality outcome.

This notice is to inform you of the RUL policy and offer you an option to purchase your initial device at a competitive retail price.  This will allow your second (higher cost) custom device to be covered by your insurance at a later date.

  • Have you received a similar orthotic device, brace, or support in the past five years?
  • Has your healthcare provider explained that they may prescribe a second orthotic device at a later date?

If your answer is “YES” to either of the above, you may be considering purchasing your orthotic device.  Please click on the link below to reach our retail website and find your device.
